Think Big, Work Local

Law

Many jobs in council require staff to work with the law, and some job roles work in specialist in areas of law, such as public or environmental laws. Some councils also employ lawyers for general legal advice.

Councils apply the law to others, as a regulator of building, environmental management or parking for example. Councils must also meet the requirements of laws, examples include taxation and company law, or meeting the time limits set by development control laws. Councils also make some subordinate laws, called By-Laws.
